Bought this seat when my son was 1 yr old but not heavy enough to be turned around facing front (20 lbs.). He was long and leggy so I needed something bigger than what I had (something that came with a stroller).
Used the Latch and tether until he exceeded the weight limit for latch (42 lbs. according to the manual)(now using seat belt/tether as directed). Still using this seat- my son is 7 and a half. We love the harness, it protects him better! He sits higher so he can see out. The seat cover comes off and is completely washable. During the time we’ve had this there was a recall on the strap between the legs that tightens the shoulder straps and we received it in the mail with complete and easy to follow directions to fix.
Read the manual and register your product.
This is the Mercedes (*TM) of car seats! Exceeds US and European safety standards!
At the time this was a bit of an extravagant purchase but well worth it!! It has lasted us this long!
Everything that touches your child is removable-and washable. It’s a bit complicated getting it all back together. If you aren’t comfortable- take the cover off and put it in the shower and hose it off….straps and all. Soap and water the juice/food/yuck stains.
Really! Bought this April 2003 and still using it (one child)! It’s pristine!
Help answer the question about Marathon Roundabout
Will Britax Marathon fit in car?
I'm trying to decide between a Britax Marathon and a Britax Roundabout. I'd go with the latter but Marathon Roundabout the weight limit is only 40 lbs, I have a pretty big baby, and I'd like to avoid having to buy yet another carseat before the booster.Does anyone know if the Marathon fits into a Toyota Matrix while rear-facing? Any other thoughts on the two seats are also welcome.

How lucky could one be??? Best car seat around to keep my little one safe and the Gators to go along with it! this seat is hard to find but SO worth it!
We purchased this car seat because of its known quality. So far it is great and I have to say i was worried about the material but my daughter loved it as soon as she sat in it. We even were thinking about taking it off and putting it in her crib so that she would sleep better.
So far I love this car seat and so does my son. He is still sitting facing backwards waiting to turn one. He is a large boy, and I needed to upgrade him from his infant seat at a little over six months of age. He was much happier in his new car seat than his little infant seat. He is currently about 10 months old, is 31 inches tall and weighs about 23.5 lbs. While he is still content to look backwards, I’m sure he will be happier to face forward. The belts are easy to use and it fits just fine in my vehicle, which is an SUV. I have not had any problems with the diaper area being too tight as mentioned in several other reviews of the same product without the Nebraska logo. All in all a great seat!
As the wife of an Auburn grad, I’ve come to find that Auburn fans generally take their team spirit to the limit and my husband’s need of an Auburn car seat for our son is a true example. The car seat is the same as any Britax Marathon in style and function (Amazingly great carseat by the way.)
The Navy blue cover has the Auburn “AU” symbol with the word “Tigers” underneath, both in Auburn orange. I, personally, would have liked an Aubie face on there to add some kid appeal but overall, very nice. All my husband’s college friends have been very impressed with it.
It is expensive, So I looked around a lot of seats, at the end this car seat wins. so save yourself a time and give in.. just buy it. there is nothing comparable out there.
My husband picked this car seat out for my 8 month old daughter. The rear facing mode fits very well in the back seat of our Subaru Impreza 2.5i. My husband didn’t even have to adjust his seat. My daughter loves that she see what’s going on outside of the car and rubs hers hands on the seat pattern frequently. in our old car seat she was so restricted that she constantly fought whenever we put her in it but with this seats she goes right to sleep if she’s tired. The restraint system works very well and is easily adjustable. The only drawback to the restraint system is it doesn’t release with one hand, and the bottom latch is a bit difficult to release, I really struggle with it. but at least that means our daughter won’t be able to unbuckle herself.
We just moved up to this bigger car seat, we haven’t had any problems since we figured out how the seat belts went since one was crossing another one when we got it.
We purchased this car seat for child #3 and we love it. We wish we had found/invested in Britax from the beginning. We love the ease of securing the seat very tightly, and it is such a plush SAFE ride for our baby!
It may be safer than the others but the way it is made with the gaps and the straps going over the legs it doesn’t seem safe to me. Not to mention after the first month of owning it the buckle stopped clicking so you don’t know if it is really in well. Maybe I have a dud but I will never spend another fortune on a Britax when I like Graco better.
We already had one of these and liked it so much that we bought a second one for our other car. We tried a Graco car seat but it wouldn’t fit in either of our cars. Actually, it was such an odd shape I couldn’t see how it would fit in any car. This one is perfect and from all the research we did, we found it was one of the safest and best reviewed.
We searched a long time and were happy with the safety features of this seat. As a bonus, it is made in North Carolina, so we were glad to support some jobs in a state that has been so hard hit in the recession.
It is really easy to install rear-facing, and a little trickier to install forward-facing. I wouldn’t recommend trying to install it the first time in a hurry, or while sleep-deprived, but once you figure it out it is easy-peasy to do again. The seat is sturdy and seems to be very safe and well-made. I think it was well worth the price, and as a concerned new parent it was very comforting to get this seat in the mail, after considering seats in the store that weren’t as nice. I remember going back in my son’s room quite a bit before he was born, and every time I went in there I would look over this seat with a feeling of accomplishment. Yeah, that is pretty goofy, but aside from his crib it was the nicest/most expensive thing we bought when getting everything ready for the baby. It, unlike a bunch of other baby products we bought, was not something I regret buying.
I’ve had to fuss around with the buckles and other parts as my son has grown out of one setting or another, and I’ve had to take it apart to clean it out a couple times. Nothing was difficult to do. It all comes apart and goes back together without a lot of trouble, and nothing comes apart when it isn’t supposed to. I’ve been using it for about a year now.
I started off with a (hand-me-down) infant-style seat when my son was first born, and definitely prefer this seat. I think it is a lot more comfortable than the infant seat we had, and I think my son felt the same way (he wasn’t as fussy about being put in it). For the same amount of money you could get two cheap seats – one for an infant, and one for a toddler, or you could get one seat that does both jobs, is easy to use, and that is worthy of admiration.
For an infant, you might want to get one of those c-shaped pads for supporting the head while the baby sleeps. Some seats come with it, this one doesn’t, but they sell them just about everywhere and they aren’t expensive.
I did have to cut the instruction book out (it is attached inside the seat with a short cord) so I could read it and install the seat at the same time.
