Help answer the question about Infant Carrier
What age did you stop carrying your baby in an infant carrier and just opted for in your arms?
I am more Infant Carrier petite so the carrier is a little awkard for me to carry especially now that its getting heavier. Just curious what age did you feel comfie with just carrying the baby instead of lugging the infant carrier around

I love this carrier. I had a differetn carrier, but it never felt comfy for me and always hurt my back and shoulders. This new carrier is so comfy for both my daughter and me. I have used it for a few hours straight with no problem at all. My daughter even falls a sleep while she is in it. I recommend this to other parents.
I have several slings and wraps, but this one is exclusively my husband’s. It has more padding and support than the Baby Bjorn, and he says it’s more comfortable and less warm. The baby is right against his chest, instead of in a full pocket of material, so the air circulates more. And the extra padding makes it easier to wear for longer stretches of time. He’s able to wear the baby while working on the computer or doing stuff around the house. Keeps the baby happy and lets the husband get stuff done.
At the price, this product is just not the quality I had expected.
I had problems with the upper buckle within 2 months. The black pointy thing behind the buckle shifted angles and would not go back to its original place. Because of that, every time I put the baby in the carrier, I ran the risk of hurting him with this sharp edge. Also the belts would come loose after just 1/2 an hour of use when his weight was not even 15 lbs. so he would be hanging much lower than the position I had originally put him in.
Arm loops are too tight to put baby’s arms through them.
I took it back (when I could find time) to BabiesRus but they would not take it back since it was past their 90 days return. I had not realized it at the time. When you have a little one time slips away fast. I have written to Chicco but so far there has been no response.
I spent over $100 (with tax) on a carrier that I barely used for 2-3 months. Even otherwise it is too expensive to be used only for babies 0-9 months.
My wife and were very excited about this carrier because it looks so comfortable and well made, but the adjustment system is very awkward. We could never get our baby to sit in it right. No matter what adjustments we made, she always seemed to sit very low and her arms were at uncomfortable angles. There are also a lot of adjustments to be made if we wanted to change the person wearing it.
The carrier seemed to be a great deal and had some pretty good reviews, but when I tried it on, I had to tighten the straps all the way down to the shortest they will go, and it was still pretty loose. I consider myself fairly average in size and still have some baby weight on me, about 5′6″ and 145 lbs, and this was too large for me. When my son was in the carrier he felt secure, but the carrier holds him very high ( his head touches my chin) and I felt like I was going to tip over. It is nearly impossible to see where you are walking with him so high, I just can’t see around him to the floor. The holes for his arms when he is facing towards me were too far back, and I had to keep his arms in front of his chest and not in the arm holes. The holes are in the right spot if he faces forward though. I got a backache in about 20 minutes, not enough time to take a walk or do anything in the house, which is why I bought it. The best description for this carrier is to imagine a school backpack worn on your chest instead of your back. I gave it 3 stars because I think someone with a larger frame or a stronger back may have better luck with this carrier. It is easy to use and get the baby into, not complicated at all, which I know is untrue of many of the carriers out there. It also didn’t hurt my shoulders, which is another complaint of most carriers.
It’s very comfortable, it’s not too big so you don’t have to carry on much stuff.
Purchased as a gift and very impressed. Very easy to use and baby was safe and secure. No compromised airway problems like sling-type carriers. will definitely recommend to others and will purchase again.
I loved this carrier! I recieved it within days of ordering it, and it works so well! It’s easy to figure out how to use and I can carry my son forward or facing me without any trouble. I can put him in and out easily and he is very comfortable in it. It’s also very comfortable on me, I was skeptical because everyone always seems to have the more expensive carriers, but this one is well worth the money. I would suggest this to any mommy or daddy!
I am a first time mom, but a pediatric nurse. I have a graco safeseat that my sister in law gave me and I was concerned at first that it didn’t snap in. I agree with some of the reviews that this is not very well advertised when you are looking at the frame’s description. Once you get the seat in the base with a little weight and the strap, it isn’t going anywhere. We were extremely lucky to find one that was very gently used on craigslist for $15. It seems durable and I am happy with the system as a whole!! I also see a lot of “experienced” moms around the hospital with these frames too. I highly recommend.
Recently purchased this Kolcraft car seat carrier to use when our grandaughter comes to visit. Since her mom and I have different car seat brands, this works perfectly! I keep it in my car so that if I am driving, we don’t have to worry about changing stollers! Saves time and energy!!
I got this Kolcraft Universal Infant Car seat carrier 1 month ago and I love it!! It’s light, easy to fold and unfold. It fits my Evenflow car seat, and it also fits in the trunk of my Jeep Patriot. The basket is nice and big, easy to manuver and love the parents cup holders. I’d recommend it!
Although some reviewers indicated that this carrier worked with Chicco car seats, it does not. Indeed, when I opened the instruction book, here is what it states: “DO NOT USE THE FOLLOWING CAR SEATS IN THIS CARRIER! This list is not inclusive: Baby Trend Latch-Loc, Baby Trend Flex-Loc, Britax Baby Safe, Century 535/5802/590 Series, Century Assura Series, Century Smart Fit Series, Chicco Key Fit, Cosco Dream Ride, Fisher Price Stay in View, Evenflo Embrace, All Gerry Infant Car Seats, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio, Kolcraft Infant Rider, Kolcraft Secura.”
Obviously, if you use any of these car seats, you should avoid this product and, unlike me, won’t be burden with the time and trouble of returning the unit.
I liked this model as it was usable facing forward or back, and my grandson is only two months old. This is a lot jazzier as far as padding and straps compared to what I had thirty years ago. The only thing so far that I really didn’t like was that it didn’t tell her how to put the baby in properly. And it didn’t even mention facing toward Mom, yet it has a drool pad on the top to keep her clothes drier. So for use I would give it a 5, for information/instructions I would give it a 3.
it is described as 3 position infant carrier, well in reality it has just two. The quality is good and seems resistant to me but I would have liked more honesty about the features. You can carry the baby just in the front and towards you or facing the world. There are better carriers out there, please check them out before buying this.
The good qualities are: very easy to use, very easy to clean (machine washable) light weight.
hope this helps
I bought this for my older brother and his wife who are expecting their first child in August. It is very soft and appears to be very durable and easy to clean. Seems like it will be a comfy ride for my little niece.
My Son & Daughter-in-law say this is a fine product, and wish they’d had one for their daughter.
I’m writing for both my Husband and I – I rate it a 4 and he rates it a 2 so we agreed it’s an overall three.
Pros: Our baby sleeps instantly in this carrier. Regardless of all else, I love it for this. I actually found it pretty easy to use but I have been carrying my other child in this carrier since she was 6 months (and for a 6-mos old, both of us rate the ergo a five-star carrier) and I still do today (she is 2.5) so maneuvering it was pretty easy once I watched the instructional video on their site. I didn’t have to buy a new carrier. It’s ergonomically fantastic and fits my body better than most carriers (I am short and short waisted) and I walk a lot up extremely steep hills (San Francisco) while pushing my toddler in a stroller.
Cons: Contrary to what I think, my husband finds it difficult to use. As a result, he cannot easily transfer our sleeping newborn to the crib or sleeping area from the ergo without waking him. He also feels as if the baby is slipping out in the infant insert. I have not found this to be true but no body wants to worry that their carrier is not secure. Finally, he feels like we could have just sewed one of these up ourselves. I have to tease him about that as we own no sewing machines and neither of us can sew anything but a button but I will let him have his point because it sounds like a lot of other folks found simple, free (blankets) products to use instead of the insert. As a final point – this is not what I select my carriers for but I know other moms who do – if you are looking to nurse while the baby stays in the carrier, this is not easy to do with the ergo infant insert.
Synopsis: The ergo is a fantastic, comfortable carrier that easily grows with your child and allows for long distance walking with comfort. However, the INSERT for infants can be a challenge to use and its design is more like an afterthought rather than well crafted like the carrier itself.
I love my ergo carrier dearly and especially now – with baby number 3 – would not know how to survive without it, but I could not for the life of it figure out how to use the infant insert correctly. I always had the feeling that it was uncomfortable for my baby and me. I ended up carrying my children in a wrap until they were old enough to use the ergo without the insert. If you do not own a wrap/sling or don`t like using one, there is a new infant insert out on the ergo carrier website. It allows you to keep the baby in a horizontal position. Maybe that would be an option.
